    Connect, strengthen, breathe, move, and relish in the unforgettable experience of prenatal yoga during this milestone in your life when the body/mind connection is of the utmost importance. With intentions of birth and motherhood preparation, we will inspire deep awareness of and connection with your pregnant body and mind. Yoga mats provided.

    CLASS POLICIES:
    1) Minimum of 3 registrants to run a session.
    2) There are no refunds for missed classes.
    3) Call GLOW during inclement weather for potential cancellation.

  • Mom & Baby Yoga

    Mom & Baby Yoga
    A refreshing class specifically designed for moms and babies (newborn to pre-crawling). Centering, breathing, stretching, and strengthening make this class a vital part of motherhood! This is a great opportunity to get out of the house and connect with yourself and other moms while bonding with your baby in a new supportive setting. You may comfortably feed, change diapers, and tend to baby in our cozy yoga space. This is postpartum & newborn yoga – it’s very much OK if babies are not quiet:) Yoga mats provided.
    Infant Massage instruction and practice accompanies great end-of-class conversation on GLOW MAMA related topics.

    CLASS POLICIES:

    3) Credit is given for 1-missed class (only) per session toward EITHER another class in the same session (space permitting) OR toward any general GLOW service.

      Lisa McAllister has been teaching Childbirth Education with GLOW since its’ beginning in 2010.  Having personally experienced both Cesarean Birth as well as Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC) with her three children, Lisa understands firsthand the many varied hopes, joys, concerns, fears, and questions expectant parents have when preparing for their child’s birth.  Her professional path has been paved by a desire to empower mothers and fathers to advocate for themselves and their envisioned births.

      With years of experience as both high school teacher and mother, Lisa naturally brings a genuinely supportive nature to her classes.  An avid yoga student, she practiced prenatal and mom/baby yoga with Amy Hopkins, and later had Amy as her doula at her daughter’s birth.  It goes without saying that Lisa’s being at GLOW has been a special and natural fit.

      When she’s not grading student papers or racing to yoga class, Lisa is longing for long, summer beach days spent with her husband Nat, and their children Flynn, Elouise, and Eamon.

    GLOW Childbirth Classes
    This all-in-one class is designed for pregnant women and their partner/birth coach who are seeking a shorter, high-quality childbirth class. Great for those planning a home, birth center, hospital, or VBAC birth. This practical, hands-on, 3-hour workshop is ideal for expectant parents during their 2nd or 3rd trimester. Group classes are offered seasonally and are held in GLOW’s Studio Be. Privates are by appointment.

    GLOW Childbirth Educator, Lisa McAllister teaches a comprehensive workshop focusing on easy-to-understand labor concepts, optimal positioning, hands-on support, and visualization. Lisa’s classes have been described as “all we needed!” and ” the best customized support we have received on this journey!”

      Robyn received her nursing degree from the University of New England in 1998 and has spent the majority of her nursing career in Maternal/Child Nursing. Ever since she was a little girl Robyn inspired to “take care of moms and babies.” As a Labor and Delivery nurse, Robyn has been privileged to witness over 600 births from Bangor, Maine to Fairbanks, Alaska! As nurse, advocate, sister, friend, or doula, each birth has influenced Robyn in her own personal and professional journey. She considers it an honor to support and empower the birthing family during some of their most intimate, vulnerable, and challenging times of bringing their babies into the world.

      In 2006, Robyn became both a certified HypnoBirthing Practitioner and also an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). She is also a Certified RN (RNC) in Inpatient Obstetrics.
      Invested in the health and emotional well being of mothers and their babies, Robyn is committed to helping parents achieve their personal feeding goals. With her positive, compassionate, and non-judgmental manner, Robyn strives to make each mother and baby couplet feel comfortable and confident as they navigate breastfeeding – realizing that each dyad is unique! She has experience with many of the common challenges of breastfeeding, including and not limited to:

      -low milk supply/over supply
      -poor latch
      -mastitis/ plugged ducts
      -engorgement
      -nipple trauma
      -slow weight gain/supplementation

    Know Your Cycles Workshop
    Women’s bodies and energies follow cyclical patterns shaped by our ovulatory and menstrual cycles, and yet most women know so little about what happens and how it manifests in our lives. Learn about our incredible bodies and the hormonal dance that is at the root of our female vitality. This workshop will introduce the signs of fertility, simple tools to track fertility and ovulation, information and resources on how we can use these signs and tools to help achieve or avoid pregnancy naturally, and recommendations for balancing our cycles for optimal health. This isn’t what you learned in high school health class! This workshop is intended for all women, as well as fertility-specific awareness.

    A Nourished Postpartum
    The fourth trimester begins with the birth of a baby and is a unique period of adjustment in a woman’s and family’s life. Bonding, childbirth recovery, breastfeeding, lack of sleep, stress, learning and all the emotions are part of the first twelve weeks, and there are many safe, supportive, and healing herbal allies and foods to support the transition. This class will cover helpful herbs, simple herbal preparations, and dietary recommendations that mothers and those who love them can prepare. Participants will leave knowing how to make a healing sitz bath, breastfeeding teas, a massage oil to help with colic, and more.
